The Neon Demon (2016)

Women carve and stuff, praying one day that they’ll look like me.
Yall. I am not going to lie. I enjoyed most of this film. The Neon Demon has gotten some really bad reviews regarding the plot, which most I can understand. But I am here to tell you not to watch this film for its content. Watch this film for the visual stimulation.
Beauty is the only thing. A message put forth loudly throughout, is such an ironic truth. It is downright ironic that the only thing of value in this is the cinematography.
A young, young girl (Fanning, a unique beauty) starts climbing the LA ladder of modeling and it pisses some seasoned gals off. They take her down. The end. That’s it.
The first part is mesmerizing. Beautiful, even. There’s always a problem with the story progression so i’m not even going to mention it. The last fourth of the film is uncomfortable and progression seems lazy. There’s a lot of build up to a short conclusion. Unsatisfying. but visually lovely.
